Nostalgia museumThe Museum of Nostalgy, being a brand new category of exhibitions, provides us the key to the door of the past free from restraints of any genres. It is up to the visitor to come across real souvenirs handed down by our predecessors. The spirit of the beginning of the century, the simple techniques as well as the simplified forms and colours of the seemingly modern retro trend will make the visitor smile. The charcoal pressing iron, leather glove-press, fusees, several candle extinguishers, later- na magica, music cylinders of jukeboxes, very old razors, pomades of the twenties, camp spir- its coffee-makers, folding drinking glasses, necklace made from a paper triangle, strip-tease pens, woman’s erotic devices disguised as a massage machine all repre- sent funny aspects of the past. Remember: There’s nothing new under the sun.
I hope that charcoal irons, gas-operated projectors, nickel silver spoons, shoemaker’s wooden nails will never come back into use. It is obvious that the step we will get on is the one that we have just left… even if it lies higher, it is the same. Bashfully enough, we hid the tats in the back room. Stupid orna- ments and silly flourishes will make you forget about good taste. Our dear visitors will be surprised, ruined but very informed in the end. The collection made up of thousands of pieces belongs to the great- est private collection in Hungary. Its sister institutions are Vidorka Toy Museum Keszthely, the Pro Cultura award-winning National Costume Doll Museum, Snail Parliament, Historic Wax-Museum (presenting an exhibition of the history of ecclesiastical dress) Torture Museum and Erotic Wax Museum, Star Castle in Balatonszentgyörgy (Hussar Doll Mu- seum, Border Castle Warrior Wax Museum) and Doll Museum of Paloc national costumes.
